About Musashi Karate Club

The Musashi Karate club was formed in 2008 and officialy opened to take new students in March 2009. The core members have been training together for years in various different venues and decided that the time was right to break away from the restrictions of "someone else's club" and form a club that would allow the progression and quality of practice to continue.
The core members are Nicola Crangle, Karl Turner, George King, Steven Kerr and Jamie Gray (who is the Chief instructor).

We have an open and friendly approach to training with the philosophy that we can all learn from each other, with this open minded approach we encourage our students to make the karate "work" for them but keeping to our systems core principles.

Sensei Jamie has over 26 years exerience in karate and is a registered self protection instructor.
He is also an instructor with the British Combat Association which is headed by Peter Consterdine and Geoff Thompson who are widely regarded as the best "practical and reality based" exponents in the martial arts world.
Sensei Jamie is an instructor in the Iain Abernethy Bunkai Jutsu system and trains with Iain on a regular basis and counts him as one of his close friends and is also a founding member of the Society of Applied Traditional Martial Arts set up by Iain this year.

Nicola and Karl are our childrens instructors and have twenty plus years of Karate training between them. Both Nicola and Karl train with Iain Abernethy on a regular basis as well as other leading traditional Karate exponents such as Colin Steel 4th Dan, Neil Pottinger 3rd Dan and Craig Penman 5th Dan.

We are a non political, not for profit traditional club focusing on pragmatic traditional karate application not competition Karate.

Our children’s class focus on discipline, respect, self defence and of course fun!
(We accept children from eight years of age)
