Summer Timetable
Last class at Alloway primary school before the school shuts for the summer break will be on Monday 28th of June and will start back on Monday 23rd of August. In-between the classes will held at Alloway Village hall on a Thursday night from 6pm – 7pm for juniors and 7pm – 8pm for adults. The first Thursday night will be the 8th of July and the last one will be the 12th of August.
Upcoming Courses
Hanshi Terry Wingrove will be visiting to conduct a course on Sunday 12th of September. The course will run from 10.30am till 3.00pm (12.30 - 1.00 break for lunch). The cost of the course is £20 - All proceeds go to charity.
Sensei Wingrove is a 9th dan Jujitsu, 8th dan Karate, 3rd dan Judo and 3rd dan Aikido. He trained in Japan for 21 years, with some of the great masters of Japanese & Okinawan martial arts. He now teaches authentic old style Yawara (Jujitsu) & Karate-jutsu throughout the world.
This course will be a charity event with all proceeds getting split between Richards House (childrens hospice – Terry’s charity) and Confer (local Neurofibromatosis charity).
Sensei Iain Abernethy is booked to visit us again on the 23rd of January 2011. Iain held a seminar in April of this year and we are delighted to have him back again next year.
Iain Abernethy has been involved in the martial arts since childhood; he holds the rank of 5th Dan with both the British Combat Association and Karate England (the official governing body for Karate in England). Iain regularly writes for the UK’s leading martial arts magazines and he is a member of the "Combat Hall of Fame".
One of the UK’s leading exponents of applied karate, Iain has written a number of critically acclaimed books on the practical application of traditional martial arts and is well known for his work on the pragmatic use of the techniques and concepts recorded in the traditional kata. Iain’s seminars, books, DVDs and articles have proved to be very popular with those groups and individuals who wish to practice their arts as the pragmatic systems they were originally intended to be.
